walnut
Walnut: (Juglans nigra) other names are Brown Oak or American Black Walnut. It can be found in U.S. and Canada
Once considered a poor relative of English Walnut (Juglans regia), Black Walnut is now a popular lumber worldwide for furniture and cabinetmaking, and for specialist work on clocks, carvings and gunstocks. Grown across North America, the limber is usually straight-grained with streaky dark brown heartwood that can have a purple hue. When kiln-dried it feels remarkably light weight for a hardwood (40 lb./cu. ft)
