Black and White Ebony
(Diospyros embryopteris)
is a great wood from S.E.
Asia, Burma, Laos. It is a rare member of the ebony family and is found
mostly in Laos. It can be very difficult to work and tends to crack
easily on pieces
thicker than 3/4". The
Heartwood is creamy white with a striking contrast of distinct black
veins. Very rare and unusual specie of the ebony family. Machines well
and takes an excellent finish and high polish. It is a very difficult
wood to dry and most available stock is either green or a very high
moisture content. Black and White and Ebony
is also know as Pale Moon Ebony. |
